What is GnuGP?

GNU Privacy Guard (GnuGP / GPG) and Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) are differing branches of encryption and decryption software which, using the OpenPGP standard (RFC 4880), provide cryptographic privacy and authentication for data communication.
GnuGP and PGP are commonly used to increase the security of communications by using encrypted signatures, encrypting and decrypting texts, e-mails, files, directories and disk partitions.
